Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Therapy Pony visit
We had an unforgettable visit from Delilah, our beautiful therapy pony, and the residents couldn't have been happier!
Delilah gracefully strolled through the corridors, capturing the attention and hearts of everyone, including visitors. She even brought festive cheer right into residents' bedrooms!
For many, it was their first experience meeting a pony up close. Olga joyfully shared: "I’ve never been so close to a pony in my entire life."
The benefits of animal therapy are incredible, from lifting spirits to easing stress, and the smiles on everyone's faces truly said it all.
Thank you, Delilah Wellness therapy pony, for spreading so much joy and warmth!

Pantomime 'Oliver'
Our residents were treated to an in-house pantomime performance of ‘Oliver’ by the talented Northeast Producers. It was a truly remarkable theatre experience, with everyone feeling like they had travelled to Oliver’s world.
Our amazing Jean stole the show, dressing up as Mrs. Bumble and bringing so much joy and laughter to everyone. A massive shout out to Jean for her incredible performance and for making the day extra special!
The residents enjoyed a glass of wine, or two, as they watched the show, making it a delightful afternoon filled with fun and camaraderie.
To top it all off, we ended the show by singing Christmas carols together, spreading the festive spirit throughout the home. It was an amazing experience for all!

Festive Professionals' Breakfast
What a wonderful morning we had at Glenroyd, celebrating with a festive breakfast to say thank you to all the amazing teams who support us throughout the year!
We couldn’t imagine this celebration without our Senior Regional Manager, Lorraine, whose knowledge and experience in caring for our residents at Barchester Healthcare is invaluable. Lorraine’s support for our General Manager, Yvonne, and the entire team is truly appreciated.
We were thrilled to have the Co-op Funeral Directors team with us. Their support and generous donations have made a big difference in our events this year. A special thanks to Ginny from the Wellness Therapy Pony - your visits with Delilah always bring peace and joy to our residents. PC Dan and PCSO Colin from Blackpool Police also joined us, sharing essential tips on staying safe during the festive season.
Our talented catering team prepared a delicious breakfast that everyone enjoyed while catching up and sharing stories. Each guest received a goodie bag with Christmas cards to celebrate the season.
Thank you all for being part of our community. Your support means everything to us!

Trip out to Barton Grange Garden Centre
Our residents had a wonderful day at the beautiful Barton Grange Garden Centre. We were thrilled by the stunning displays and truly felt the Christmas spirit with the sights, scents, and sounds of real Christmas trees and festive music.
After a pleasant stroll around the garden centre, we enjoyed a cosy tea break with delicious mince pies. Of course, we couldn’t resist bringing back some festive cheer for our Christmas tree - four sets of bells! Walter was particularly taken with them, serenading us with "Frosty the Snowman" while ringing the bells.
It was a joyful day for everyone, filled with laughter and festive spirit.

Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair was a truly magical start to the festive season at Glenroyd!
We started off the morning with our exciting raffle and tombola, giving everyone the chance to win fantastic prizes. The bake sale was a hit, with delicious treats that were loved by all.
Santa made a special appearance in the grotto, and everyone loved capturing those wonderful moments with him. Santa’s presence brought so much joy to our day!
In the afternoon, our talented Marianne provided live music that truly set the festive mood. Santa even joined in the fun, dancing the afternoon away with our residents. The festive spirit was everywhere as we gathered for the much-anticipated raffle draw. Congratulations to all the winners!
A huge thank you to everyone who came to support us. Together, we raised an amazing £410 for the residents' fund and our life enrichment program. Your generosity is deeply appreciated.
The Christmas season has officially begun!

Pyjama Day
We had an absolutely amazing time with our Pyjama Day here at Glenroyd!
Residents and staff cozied up in their favourite PJ’s and enjoyed a delightful day filled with laughter, relaxation, and community spirit.
Our talented catering team outdid themselves, serving up delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream, along with other tasty refreshments.
Most importantly, we were raising money for children in need, and all funds will go towards supporting local communities.
