Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home
Wedding Day Magic
What a truly touching day we had at Glenroyd as our beloved resident, Jean, experienced the joy of watching her granddaughter Amy's wedding live on TV. Although Jean couldn't physically be at the ceremony, we were determined to make this moment as special as possible. Surrounded by her friends, Jean was able to share in the love and celebration from afar.
Our team worked hard to recreate the wedding atmosphere in the lounge. From the colour scheme to the carefully prepared buffet, every detail was designed to reflect the beauty of Amy and Dave's big day. Our talented catering team prepared a menu that matched the wedding feast, earning compliments from everyone present.
Jean's family added their own personal touch, including a beautifully crafted buttonhole and a personalised wedding place card, making Jean feel even closer to the event. She was emotional and overjoyed watching Amy and Dave exchange vows. It was a beautiful afternoon filled with smiles and celebration.
Dog Show Competition
What a pawsitively wonderful National Dog Day we had at Glenroyd! We celebrated in style with our annual dog show competition, complete with a lovely garden buffet filled with sweet treats for our human guests and tasty snacks for our four-legged friends.
With plenty of attendees, our residents had an amazing time cheering on the contestants. Our judges had the tough job of selecting the best dogs in each category: prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, best trick, waggiest tail, and the dog the judges want to take home. Bob The Dog truly stole the show with his charming presence!
Congratulations to all the winners in each category! Thank you to everyone who joined us for this wonderful afternoon of community love.
Geoff's Wish Granted
Our dedicated team, committed to making dreams come true, organised an unforgettable outing to a classic car show at Stanley Park for Geoff, one of our cherished residents. A former mechanic and business owner, Geoff has always had a passion for cars, especially Fords - his beloved Cortinas - and his dream of owning a Jaguar finally came true in 2009 with a stunning Jaguar X-Type!
Despite the rainy weather, Geoff, along with his lovely wife Janet, daughter Debbie, and friends, had a fantastic time soaking in the beauty of these classic vehicles. After the show, they all enjoyed a delicious McDonald's lunch back at Glenroyd, where Geoff savoured his cheeseburger surrounded by the people he loves most.
We are so grateful for the joy this outing brought to Geoff and his family, creating precious memories outside of our care home.
An Evening to Remember
Our wonderful residents embarked on a delightful evening adventure to enjoy a scrumptious supper together. It all started when Joan asked our staff if there were any burgers around. With a blink of an eye, we made Joan’s wish a reality and headed straight to McDonald's!
As soon as the announcement was made, more residents wanted to join the fun, so we hopped on the mini bus to make everyone happy. Oh, what an evening it was! We indulged in some tasty chips, well-deserved burgers, and topped it all off with delicious ice cream.
Glenroyd Olympics
Our residents had an amazing time celebrating this special event with friends and staff at Glenroyd. From thrilling games to a special visit from our gymnasts Yvonne, there were plenty of smiles, giggles, and fun all around! Everyone looked fabulous in their outfits and truly embraced the Olympic spirit.
Not only did our residents enjoy a variety of group activities, but they also had the chance to participate in individual sessions, keeping everyone engaged and active throughout the day. It's wonderful to see how much joy and excitement these activities bring to our community.
Ena, one of our beloved residents, shared, "I have thoroughly enjoyed the day and I’m looking forward to watching some of the finals tonight." It warms our hearts to hear such positive feedback and see the enthusiasm among our residents.
At Glenroyd, we believe in the benefits of a whole home approach, where every resident is valued and included in various activities that promote social interaction, physical activity, and overall well-being.
Therapy Dog Visit
Our beloved therapy dog, Summer, has been making regular visits to Glenroyd, spreading happiness and love to our residents!
Summer has quickly become a cherished member of our community, bringing so much joy and warmth to each visit. Her wagging tail and friendly presence have touched the hearts of everyone she meets, creating special moments and unforgettable memories along the way.
The benefits of therapy dog visits like Summer's are truly remarkable. Studies have shown that interactions with therapy dogs can help reduce feelings of loneliness, lower stress levels, increase socialisation, and even improve overall well-being. The unconditional love and comfort that Summer provides have a positive impact on our residents' mental, emotional, and physical health.
We are grateful for the happiness and companionship that Summer brings to our home. Thank you, Summer, for being a source of comfort, joy, and unconditional love to our residents. Your visits truly make a difference in our lives!
