Activities at Glenroyd Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.

It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.

I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Geoff's Wish Granted

Our dedicated team, committed to making dreams come true, organised an unforgettable outing to a classic car show at Stanley Park for Geoff, one of our cherished residents. A former mechanic and business owner, Geoff has always had a passion for cars, especially Fords - his beloved Cortinas - and his dream of owning a Jaguar finally came true in 2009 with a stunning Jaguar X-Type!

Despite the rainy weather, Geoff, along with his lovely wife Janet, daughter Debbie, and friends, had a fantastic time soaking in the beauty of these classic vehicles. After the show, they all enjoyed a delicious McDonald's lunch back at Glenroyd, where Geoff savoured his cheeseburger surrounded by the people he loves most.

We are so grateful for the joy this outing brought to Geoff and his family, creating precious memories outside of our care home.

An Evening to Remember

Our wonderful residents embarked on a delightful evening adventure to enjoy a scrumptious supper together. It all started when Joan asked our staff if there were any burgers around. With a blink of an eye, we made Joan’s wish a reality and headed straight to McDonald's!

As soon as the announcement was made, more residents wanted to join the fun, so we hopped on the mini bus to make everyone happy. Oh, what an evening it was! We indulged in some tasty chips, well-deserved burgers, and topped it all off with delicious ice cream.

Not only did our residents enjoy a variety of group activities, but they also had the chance to participate in individual sessions, keeping everyone engaged and active throughout the day. It's wonderful to see how much joy and excitement these activities bring to our community.

Our beloved therapy dog, Summer, has been making regular visits to Glenroyd, spreading happiness and love to our residents!

Summer has quickly become a cherished member of our community, bringing so much joy and warmth to each visit. Her wagging tail and friendly presence have touched the hearts of everyone she meets, creating special moments and unforgettable memories along the way.

The benefits of therapy dog visits like Summer's are truly remarkable.
