Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home
Viva Mexico En Glanroyd
This National Tourism Week, we've been on an incredible journey without even stepping outside Glenroyd Care Home! We transformed our beloved home into a vibrant slice of Mexico, complete with themed decorations that brought the spirit of Mexican culture right to our doorstep.
Our residents were treated to a fiesta they'll never forget, with everyone looking absolutely fabulous in their fancy dress. Sombreros off to all who embraced the theme with such enthusiasm!
The culinary highlight? None other than Chef Ella's mouth-watering fajitas! The aromas were as tantalising as the flavours, and we're all still raving about the feast she prepared. Ella, you truly outdid yourself!
The heart of our Mexican fiesta was the live music provided by the very talented Marianne. Her tunes had us tapping our feet and clapping our hands, setting the perfect backdrop for a day of joy. And let's not forget the Macarena dances that filled the air with laughter. Whether you've got two left feet or you're a dance floor diva, it was all about the fun!
Even the weather joined in, giving us a gloriously hot day that made our Mexican escape all the more authentic. We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate the beauty and excitement of travel and culture.
St. George's Day
The residents at Glenroyd Care Home were whisked away on a magical journey celebrating St George's Day in true style! Our conservatory was transformed into a festive scene, adorned with themed decorations that captured the spirit of England's valiant patron saint.
The highlight of our afternoon was the enchanting live music entertainment provided by the talented Marianne. Her melodies danced through the air, bringing joy and a toe-tapping rhythm to our hearts.
Our residents basked in the camaraderie of good company, surrounded by the vibrant hues of red and white, and the delightful aroma of delicious refreshments that were just as much a feast for the eyes as they were for the taste buds.
We all had a spectacular afternoon, filled with laughter, music, and the warmth of community. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in making this celebration a resounding success. Your efforts have added another chapter of cherished memories to our Glenroyd family album.
Here's to St George, to England, and to days filled with joy and friendship at Glenroyd Care Home!
Gardening Club
We're sowing seeds of joy here at Glenroyd as we launched our brand new Gardening Club, and what a way to kick things off than by celebrating Earth Day!
Our latest residents' meeting blossomed with ideas, and together, we've crafted the perfect list of herbs for our inaugural garden. This herb garden isn't just for show - our talented catering team will be using these home-grown gifts from our residents' green fingers to add fresh, aromatic flavours to our daily meals.
The residents have chosen, the plans have been laid, and thanks to our ever-resourceful maintenance man Kyle, we are fully equipped and the planting has begun!
In the spirit of growth and life, we've also welcomed a new member to our Glenroyd family - a vibrant orange tree now graces our conservatory. Imagine the zesty aromas and the lush touch of greenery it will bring to our home!
Stay tuned for updates on our garden's progress, and may we all remember that every day is Earth Day when we care for our world as lovingly as we do for our gardens.
Musical Magic
Recently, we teamed up with the wonderful live virtual team at Barchester for a "Come Sing to Feel Good" session led by the amazing Dan Cooper from Biiah. Our beautiful conservatory turned into a concert hall as voices lifted in harmony to the bright vibes of "I Can See Clearly Now" and the timeless warmth of "Here Comes the Sun."
Our residents were stars in their own right, showcasing their vocal talents, sharing laughter, and tapping into some sweet nostalgia. It's incredible how music can transport us, isn't it?
As if the melodies weren't sweet enough, our residents and the baking club outdid themselves by preparing the most delicious scones for the occasion. It was a feast for the senses and the perfect accompaniment to our musical afternoon.
We want to extend a massive thank you to Dan Cooper and the team at Barchester for sharing this feel-good moment with us. It's events like these that bring our community together, creating memories that resonate much like the chords of our favourite songs.
Trip to Lytham Hall
Today, our hearts are full of gratitude and our minds brimming with history and beauty, thanks to an unforgettable trip to the magnificent Lytham Hall. The residents of Glenroyd Care Home had the pleasure of stepping back in time within the walls of this stunning heritage site.
A massive shout out to the incredible volunteers - Margaret, Denice, Sue J, and Sue B - who brought the past to life with their informative and captivating tour around the Hall. Your knowledge and passion for Lytham Hall's history were truly the highlight of our day.
As if the tour wasn't delightful enough, we were blessed with perfect weather to enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Hall's exquisite gardens. The blooms were vibrant and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of spring, creating a perfect backdrop for our residents to reminisce and share stories.
We ended our trip on the highest note possible - relaxing in the Hall’s café, where we were treated to the warmest hospitality. The coffee was rich, the company was delightful, but the scones... oh, the scones were simply divine! A perfect treat to cap off a perfect outing.
We cannot express enough thanks to everyone at Lytham Hall for opening your doors and hearts to us. Your wonderful hospitality has not only made our day but has also created memories that our residents will cherish forever.
Jimmy's Wish Fulfilled
We had the incredible opportunity to make resident Jimmy's lifelong dream come true at Glenroyd Care Home. Jimmy, a die-hard Liverpool fan since his teenage years, had one wish - to watch his beloved team play live at Anfield again. As Liverpool is his hometown and he has a deep affection for the Beatles, a visit to the city wouldn't be complete without immersing himself in the nostalgia of the old town, Mathew Street, the Cavern Pub, and the Beatles shop where he got his cherished t-shirt from.
The day started with a trip down memory lane as we strolled through the old town, allowing Jimmy to reminisce about his youth and soak in the atmosphere that holds a special place in his heart. The sheer joy and excitement radiating from Jimmy's face in every picture captured spoke volumes about the significance of this experience for him.
With the memories of the old town fresh in our minds, we made our way back to Anfield to cheer on the legends of Liverpool FC. The energy and passion in the stadium were palpable as we witnessed some unforgettable moments on the pitch.
Jimmy's heartfelt words at the end of the day truly encapsulated the impact of this special outing. He expressed, "When I thought I had used up all my memories, Glenroyd gives me more. Just when I thought I've lost them due to age, these wonderful people and the management team have given me one of the best days of my life. This experience is right up there at the top of my cherished memories. It's been an absolutely brilliant experience that I will never, ever forget."
