Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Glenroyd Care Home

Remembrance Day
Our residents had a heartfelt trip to the Cenotaph to honour Remembrance Day. This day holds special significance for our resident James, who served in the Black Watch regiment during his national service in the 1950s.
As a young Scot, James had many adventures, including a memorable encounter in Kenya where he was chased by a rhinoceros and cleverly escaped by climbing a tree, although he did leave his rifle behind! His time in the army was filled with camaraderie and unforgettable experiences, from surviving days without food in the jungle to serving in Berlin and being part of the guard of honour at Balmoral. A highlight was dancing with Princess Margaret at a Ceilidh.
James cherished his army days, the friendships formed, and the countries he visited for the first time. Although he considered a career in the military, his return home led to a long and happy marriage, much to the delight his children.
On this day, we remember and honour those who sacrificed so much. Lest we forget.

What a spook-tacular day we had as we celebrated with a magical Halloween Ball! The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement, thanks to the incredible live music provided by talented Marianne.
We had a special visit from Professor Hand, whose presence added an enchanting touch to the day and brought smiles to everyone's faces. Our residents embraced the Halloween spirit, dressing up in fantastic costumes that added so much fun to the celebration.
Our amazing catering team outdid themselves with a spread of delicious treats that everyone enjoyed. The drinks were flowing, from cocktails to wine and Prosecco, ensuring a festive time for all.
We made sure to include everyone in the celebrations by visiting residents in their bedrooms for some trick-or-treat fun. The day ended on a high note with a lively lift selfie photoshoot, capturing the joy of the day.

Bingo with Brownies
What an incredible evening we had at Glenroyd! Our residents were joined by the local Brownies for a delightful bingo night. The room was buzzing with excitement as numbers were called and cards were eagerly marked. The spirit of friendly competition filled the air, and it was amazing to see connections forming across generations.
Adding to the fun, we had some wonderful music playing throughout the evening, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere. It was truly a night to remember, with smiles all around and laughter echoing through the walls of the dining room.
A big congratulations to all our bingo winners! Your victories added a special touch to the evening. But truly, everyone who participated came away a winner, with new friendships and fond memories.
A huge thank you to the Brownies for joining us and bringing such positive energy to our home. We are so grateful for these moments of community engagement that enrich our residents' lives and bring us all closer together.

Oktoberfest Celebrations
Our residents had an incredible time celebrating Oktoberfest!
We transformed our conservatory into a lively German festival, complete with authentic German beer and refreshments. The air was filled with traditional German music, creating an atmosphere that whisked everyone away to Germany for the day.
We kicked off the festivities with a spirited reading of an Oktoberfest poem by our resident James, who dressed up for the occasion. Having travelled to Germany himself, he brought his experiences to life for us all. The conversations were rich and engaging as we shared and learned fascinating facts about German culture.
To ensure everyone could participate, we delivered German beers right to the residents' rooms. Plus, with the help of Oomph's activity books, everyone explored the wonders of the world's most anticipated beer festival.
