Activities at Glenroyd Care Home
Here at the Glenroyd our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. Everyone is different and gets pleasure from different things and here at Glenroyd we understand that and therefore try to provide a programme of activity that is tailored to individuals needs. We do this by gathering information and life history work and using that information to feed into our activities schedule. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.
Agata Prendota
Hi, my name is Agata Prendota and I am the activities coordinator here at Glenroyd. I have worked at Glenroyd since 2014 and in April 2022 transferred to activities. I developed a strong relationship with many of our residents and their families. This has helped me to create a tailored activities program focused on maximizing everyone’s wellbeing, independence, and social engagement.
It is my goal to create a stimulating environment that enables to provide imaginative, fun, and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability. My infectious enthusiasm and creative approach are the key to inspire our residents and staff to get involved in activities both within the home and in the local community.
I am passionate about my role and especially the challenge of coming up with new ways to engage as many residents as possible in daily activities.

Life at Glenroyd Care Home
Century Celebrations
Celebrations have been in full swing as our beloved resident Brenda reached her centenary in style! Brenda was joined by staff, relatives, friends, and fellow residents as she received a heartfelt telegram from the King in recognition of her landmark birthday.
We hosted a champagne reception in our beautifully decorated conservatory, where everyone enjoyed a special birthday cake crafted by our talented chef. The music played softly in the background, taking us on a nostalgic journey through the decades of Brenda's life. We sang, we danced, and we shared countless memories of Brenda's incredible journey. From her early years to her golden moments, each story added a layer of richness to the celebration.
Acting manager Yvonne expressed the sentiments of everyone present with her heartfelt words: "We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable woman as she reaches this amazing milestone. Brenda is such a wonderful resident, and we look forward to making many more memories as she breaks into her next century."
Brenda's centenary is not just a celebration of her age but a testament to her vibrant spirit, resilience, and the countless lives she has touched. We are honoured to have her as part of our community and look forward to many more joyous moments together.
Here's to Brenda and the beginning of her next century filled with love, laughter, and continued adventures!
Fish & Chip Day
Our wonderful residents had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating National Fish and Chip Day! We took a delightful trip to the local Bispham Kitchen, where everyone savoured a delicious fish and chips lunch, followed by cups of tea and scrumptious scones. The atmosphere was filled with joy and nostalgia as our residents reminisced and soaked up the atmosphere of “Blackpool Through the Ages” display.
Betty, one of our residents, perfectly summed up the day: “We’ve all had such a lovely day. It just doesn’t get any better than fish and chips and cup of tea, it’s always been my favourite- you can’t beat fish & chips as far as I’m concerned!”
It was a day full of laughter, sharing stories, and creating new memories. We’re so grateful to Bispham Kitchen for their fantastic hospitality and for making our residents feel so special.
World Ocean Day
Residents at Glenroyd celebrated World Ocean Day with a fantastic virtual tour of The Deep, Hull's award-winning aquarium!
Our residents dived into the mesmerising underwater world, discovering amazing creatures like sharks, turtles, and stingrays.
It was truly wonderful and educational experience that brought the wonders of the ocean right to our screens.
Ann shared her excitement, saying, "We all had a great time exploring the ocean and learning new things."
A huge thank you to The Deep for this incredible opportunity. Here's to more adventures and learning experiences!
Professionals Breakfast
We had the absolute pleasure of hosting a Professionals’ breakfast and it was truly a memorable experience. We were honoured to have the district nurses team join us for a morning filled with meaningful discussions about the importance of working together and sharing our experiences and knowledge in caring for elderly patients.
And, of course, we can't forget to mention the delicious breakfast that was served! From the perfectly poached eggs Florentine to the hearty full English breakfast and refreshing soft drinks, the spread was truly a hit. Our guests complemented how delightful everything was, and we couldn’t be happier to have started the day on such a delicious note.
Our Acting General Manager, Yvonne said: "It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge with the district nurses team, and reward our community colleagues who are always on hand to help us out. The breakfast was delicious, and it was nice having new faces join us and build community ties. I truly appreciate the dedication and support of the district nurses."
The nurses also enjoyed getting to know Glenroyd values and the vibrant life in general. It was wonderful to see them engage with our community. Their insights and experiences are invaluable to us, and we are grateful for the opportunity to learn from each other.
Trip to Farmer Parrs
In celebration of Dementia Action Week our residents embarked on a heart-warming trip to Farmer Parrs Animal World, where the power of animal therapy took centre stage.
Our first stop was the Fylde Country Life Museum, where residents took a nostalgic journey through 26 major exhibits. From cottages and clog shops to offices, dairies, and displays from World Wars 1 and 2, the realistic scenes of shops, rooms, and buildings brought back many cherished memories.
After soaking in the history, it was time to meet the animals! Our residents were thrilled to see a variety of animals, including sheep, pigs, chickens, ponies, goats, alpacas, and peafowl. Dorothy, one of our lovely residents, expressed her joy by saying, "Thank you for taking me out. I’ve had a wonderful day and the animals were beautiful."
To top off the morning, we headed to the bistro where everyone enjoyed delicious fish and chips, sipping cups of tea, and savouring the moment together.
Celebrating 200 years of Cadbury
Our wonderful residents and dedicated staff gathered together for an incredibly special Live Virtual Event with chocolate giant Cadbury to hear about their incredible 200 year history, have a Cadbury themed quiz and take a trip down memory lane to reminisce of the nation’s most loved chocolate during Dementia Action Week.
A huge thank you to Cadbury for making the day even sweeter! We were thrilled to receive the Memory Bar Boxes, each filled with Dairy Milk bars wrapped in various designs celebrating Cadbury's rich 200-year history. It was not only a treat for the taste buds but also a beautiful bridge to the past for many of our residents.
