Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Anna Wasiak
I am a friendly and enthusiastic Activity Coordinator with a passion for working with people and making a positive impact in their lives. I joined Hyacinth House in 2024 as a carer and excited to now be the Activities Coordinator. I have eight years experience in hospitality and three years in floristry. I bring creativity, strong interpersonal skills and a warm welcoming approach to my role. My background has given me the ability to connect with individuals, organise engaging activities, and create meaningful experiences that brighten people’s days. I love inspiring others, fostering a sense of community and bringing joy through thoughtful and inclusive activities.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Hyacinth House Care Home

Guessing Game.
What a fantastic time we had putting residents' senses to the test!
There was a lot of laughter and a chatter in the room as everyone tried to guess mystery items using their taste, smell and touch - all while blindfolded! From the delightful scents of essential oils and fresh herbs to tasting food objects prepared by the chef, every sense got a workout and when it came to touch, jelly was definitely the least popular choice!
There were plenty of surprises - like how tricky mushrooms were to identify by smell. It turns out our senses aren't always as reliable as we think, but it sure made for a fun activity and great way to get everyone thinking, and share lots of laughs.

THANKS TO OUR FANTASTIC ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR!
Staff and residents at Hyacinth House care home are celebrating National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, which takes place from January 20-24. Residents and staff want to thank Tammy, whose hard work and dedication makes a real difference to the lives of our residents.
National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, is an annual event to support activity professionals and to thank them for all the many different varied activities they provide to residents.
Tammy always goes above and beyond her role and for this, everyone at the home is truly grateful!

Feeling the January Blues? Not us at Hyacinth House!
We've brightened up our spaces with beautiful bursts of colour and it's made such a difference! Some of our lovely ladies enjoy flower arranging and were keen to have lovely fresh flowers in their rooms and around the home, their enthusiasm turned into some truly stunning arrangements!
If you are stopping by, be sure to take a look around and admire their wonderful creations. A little colour really does lift the spirits!

A special Darts Game for Pat and Friends!
Our wonderful team members Matt and Anna, set up a surprise darts game today for our lovely resident Pat, knowing how much she used to enjoy playing in her past. She was thrilled to see the dartboard and it brought back many wonderful memories for her!
It quickly turned into a fun and friendly competition among our residents - and it was a definite hit! (pardon the pun!)

Did you know?
That our ‘Resident of the Day’ programme gives every resident a day that’s all about them? We want them to feel extra special.
Recently, our lovely Dee Dee decided she would like a personalised pamper session as part of her day.

Keeping the good vibes rolling with our well-being and mindfulness week!
This time we welcomed back Katie, Love to Move Dorset and wow, she did not disappoint. After all the festive mince pies, chocolates and biscuits, she had us moving and working on our minds and bodies as one.
It was another fun and enjoyable session!
