Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Tammy Carpenter

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Tammy, I am the Activities coordinator. I joined Hyacinth House as one of the Night Seniors, I am so happy and proud to be part of the Hyacinth team.  All my colleagues are so passionate about our journey together and what we are doing, we all share the Barchester values and keep them at the forefront of our minds.

My journey into the Care Sector started more than 6 years ago, initially working as Agency to see if I was the right fit for care work. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of care and getting the chance to work in difference places, gaining experience and knowledge, working and caring for a variety of people in their homes and in a residential/dementia care setting.  I've learnt so much and I completed my NVQ Level 3  and continue to pursue further qualifications.

I enjoy getting to know our residents, learning about them as an individual; their likes, dislikes, and their lives outside the home.  I am very passionate about improving the lives of those I support and the importance of continuing their interests.

In my personal life I am very active, with family life and with two Cocker Spaniels, there is never a dull moment. With a passion for adventure and hiking, with water sports thrown in and always up for trying something new.  Also a keen photographer, I enjoy getting my camera out to capture moments.

I look forward to welcoming you at Hyacinth, and capturing the moments we create together.

A trip out to The Blue Pool.

As the weather is warming up, we were excited to get out and visit this wonderful nature reserve that makes up part of the Furzebrook Estate and is also a sight of special scientific interest.

We were thrilled to just watch and listen to the wildlife and were joined by 2 feathered friends showing their majestic display, whilst we enjoyed a brew from their tea room that dates back 100 years.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquillity this treasured space provides.

World Parkinson's Day Lunch Fundraiser.

For World Parkinson's Day, we hosted a heart-warming lunch fundraiser to support such a noble cause.

We were thrilled to see residents, relatives and friends come together all adorned in blue to raise awareness, including the team, Sadie and her blue eyebrows!

From a blue cheese and pear walnut salad to a scrumptious blueberry cheesecake, our blue themed menu delighted everyone's taste buds.
The talented Alan Poulton serenaded us with his piano melodies and we were honoured to have Ruth Wright from Parkinson's UK join us for a touching talk about their impactful work.

Congratulations to Pri from Halcyon for winning the hamper in our raffle and to Hannah for winning the cupcake contest!

We are so grateful for everyone's generosity today and together with staff have currently raised £214!  Thank you all for making this afternoon special.

A shopping trip for Eveline.

Our resident Eveline decided to take a trip to Wimborne Minister. Eveline enjoyed her time taking a bus and doing her favourite chore... finding essentials in least imaginative places.

Eveline said she had the most amazing and fun time with her carer Anna exploring local boutiques and walking amongst beautiful architecture.

Fulfilling a special wish.

A resident who only recently relocated to Hyacinth House had a special wish to visit an Oceanarium.

We knew just the place to visit - Oceanarium, Bournemouth. Our resident was delighted to see the underwater life with colourful tropical fish, turtles and the mischievous otters. He loved it so much and was all smiles throughout the day, on his return he shared his amazement with family and friends. We were so happy to be able fulfil this special trip for him.
