Activities at Hyacinth House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Mindfulness and Wellbeing with Peaceful Pathways Dorset - Jane Scanlan
New Year, new beginnings, bringing new opportunities to try something wonderful.
This week we are focusing on wellness, mindfulness and self-care for our residents, it has been such a treat! We welcomed Jane who offers incredible uplifting holistic therapies to relieve pain, promote peace and relaxation. The afternoon was nothing short of blissful, with relaxing music from soothing soundscapes, self-massage and wellness techniques, learning how to loosen up our shoulders, hands and joints - which felt amazing!
With her numerous therapies on offer we look forward to her next visit! Thank you for a lovely afternoon Jane Scanlan!

Speakers Corner – ‘Her days in the Land Army’
What an incredible morning at our monthly speakers’ corner! After hearing snippets about Gwen’s past through her Royal Voluntary Service 60-year award ceremony, we also wanted to hear the full story about her Land Army days.
Gwen and her lovely daughter in-law Heather joined us to share all, helped by a meticulously put together scrapbook of newspaper cuttings, articles, photos and even the little cotton dollies they used to make, it was such an insightful, fun and emotional delve in to her past we were all captivated, fascinating memories that Gwen speaks about with such fondness.
A huge thank you to Gwen and Heather, for such a wonderful session!

After an amazing Christmas, a couple of our ladies fancied a visit to Poole Park.
The fresh air and beautiful scenery were perfect for a relaxing walk, spotting birds, and chatting about all the fun we had over the holidays and what we were looking forward to this year.
We topped it all off with a cosy break for tea and some delicious cake (thanks to the hospitality team!). It was just what we needed to shake off those cobwebs and enjoy some great company.
Here’s to more outings and special moments in 2025, exciting planning in progress!

Christmas Special - Wimborne Ladies Who Latte!
What a wonderful evening we all had for our December meeting at Hyacinth House, we decided to ditch the lattes and instead, serve mulled wine and cider with festive nibbles of baked Camembert, pigs in blankets and more. A night of drinks, laughter and gifts!
What a lovely way to end 2024 for this fantastic networking group - Wimborne Ladies Who Latte, we look forward to seeing you all again in 2025!

Talented Relatives!
One of the best parts of getting to know our residents, is also getting to know their amazing families! We have found some truly talented people in the Hyacinth House community!
This week Alex, granddaughter of Conrad and Margot stopped by to share her incredible musical talents. After wowing us at the piano in the past, this time she brought her flute and filled the room with the magic of Christmas Songs. We sang along, completely captivated by her performance. Proud grandparents moment, as they watched with pride. It was such a joy to have Alex with us and we can’t wait to see (and hear!) you again soon! Thank you so much Alex for sharing your talent again.

Musical instruments at the ready!
We had the pleasure of being joined by the fantastic High Pine Interactive music, our residents had the chance to play along with all sorts of musical instruments and even joined in with some singing, it was such a high energy and interactive session. It turns out we’ve got quite the rhythm and musical talents among us!
A big thank you to High Pine for bringing something so unique and fun for us to try and we are looking forward to another jam session soon!
