Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Minibus outing to Haskins

Residents love to go out in the minibus and when asked where they would like to go it was a very quick reply to the local garden centre Haskins to look at the beautiful spring bulbs that are growing and then finish off the trip with a cup of tea and cake.

A lovely trip had by all and we will see where the next outing takes us.

Yoga with Rosemary

We really do encourage residents to lead an activity session that they would like to do in the home. Rosemary is staying with us for a respite stay and regularly at home will do yoga to help with her wellbeing and health so when Rosemary asked could she do a yoga session we were more than happy to let her do this.

Residents enjoyed doing the yoga session to help with her breathing, stretching and movements. Rosemary is going back home but will continue to come into the hometo run these sessions for our residents to enjoy.

Katie from Love to Move

We had our regular exercise class with Katie from Love to Move Dorset and what a great session it was. Residents benefit so much from Katie's classes as she makes exercise fun and able for everyone to do. We look forward to Katie coming back soon.

Cupcake decorating

We spent a lovely afternoon decorating some cupcakes for residents and their family members to enjoy. The ladies all got rather creative with the various items they had to choose from. The ladies then finished the afternoon off by having a cup of tea, cake and a good ole natter.

Flower arranging with our volunteers

We are so lucky to have such lovely volunteers here at Moors Manor. These ladies from our local Women's Institute first visited the home to be part of the judging panel for our staff bake off last August and after this visit said they would like to be volunteers here in the home. They enjoy flower arranging themselves so when we asked if they would like to do this with our residents they were more than happy to do this and as you can see in all the photos everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Walk and talk in the garden on a sunny day

What better way to spend a sunny afternoon than to get wrapped up and go outside to get some fresh air. Residents had the opportunity to talk with each other but also have a walk around our garden as well. Residents also shared their gardening stories and tips on how to keep our gardens looking as good as they do.
