Activities at Newton House Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Newton House Activities Team
Amanda, Sabrina, Karen and Jill make up our fantastic Activities Team here at Newton House. They develop and oversee an active living programme for each resident, which encourages mobility, social contact, independence and fun. Each and every person can thrive and live to their full potential with no day ever being the same. They bring great enthusiasm and spark to Newton House and have one passion, which is to deliver an amazing and vibrant activities programme to cater to all tastes and abilities.

Life at Newton House Care Home
World Health Day
What a joyous & refreshing morning we had, celebrating world health day
We started the day with a wonderful friendship group to bring all residents together from across the home – Meeting new friends and engaging in social activity has so many health benefits including an increased feeling of wellbeing and self-esteem, physical activity to enhance body awareness just to name a few.
Residents tucked in to some delicious homemade fruit kebabs, which were made from strawberries, blueberries, oranges and grapes. They were absolutely scrumptious. We then engaged in a fun quiz about the body for our ‘let’s get quizzical’ activity.
Coronation history
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
International Women's Day
We are delighted to announce the opening of Newton Houses Beauty & Holistic room, a calm and relaxing place for residents to enjoy a variety of free treatments, including:
Massage Chair
All hand & Nail care/hand massage
Footspas and foot massage
Diffuser sensory
Face masks/ massage
Our beautiful Resident Ambassador Beryl, was delighted to declare the salon as open and said that she felt honoured to have the pleasure of being asked to do this. The ladies were thrilled to now have a beautiful salon to visit for all of their esteem needs, and they enjoyed nibbles, wine and treatments to celebrate. The celebrations continued this evening with the talented Nick Glover for a good old knees up to celebrate our incredible ladies (the gents were invited too as they are equally amazing).
Pat said “I have tears of joy”, whilst Vonnie said “what a great time we’ve had, thank you all for everything that you do for us”.
“Happy international woman’s day to you all”
A Fun & Adventurous day At Newton House
Today started out with beautiful Betty assisting Lucy at reception whilst she waited for her hair appointment with our fabulous hairdresser Katrina Fox.
We then enjoyed a scenic route around Long Bennington and it’s surrounding villages, Resident Norma absolutely loves the village and wanted to visit there to reminisce.
On the way home, we stopped off at Downtown for a little bit of shopping and a nice cup of tea.️
The fun didn’t stop there as after lunch, we had a bus trip to the Miller & Carter for Gents Club for a nice refreshing pint!
Our monthly residents meetings are a wonderful way of listening to our residents wishes and we were able to fulfill 3 of those wishes today.
St. Patrick's Day
What an incredibly fun & fabulous day we have had today, celebrating St Patrick’s day in style.
With residents favourite Steve Carmel performing their favourite songs for a whole home party. It’s wonderful to see all our communities come together.
Mike and John were delighted to take to the mic and sang their hearts out, they were just amazing!
Residents enjoyed a good old Guinness too! As you can see by the photos they had an amazing time.
Sensory story telling
Across our services, our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session. Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!
We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
