Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Silverbirch House Care Home
The Silverbirch Minibus
The Silverbirch House Minibus!
We are so delighted that our minibus is now here. We have already paid a visit to the local garden center and we are now planning our next trip.
Having the minibus is a great privilege and it brings variety and freedom to the lives of our residents. We are particularly looking forward to the warmer months as we feel a trip to the coast is in order!
Yoga Afternoon
Yoga Afternoon
Today, we had the lovely Adiyog - Yoga and well being visit us at Silverbirch House.
Adiyog worked through a seated yoga routine with the residents bringing calm and concentration to the room.
Yoga has so many benefits, it can help with balance, pain relief, it can help us to sleep better and it benefits the heart. These are just some of the reasons we know a weekly session is extremely beneficial for our residents.
Sunday Service
Sunday Service at Silverbirch House.
This Sunday, some of our residents came together to take part in the Sunday church service. Between them, they chose the hymns that were sung and the scriptures read.
We are looking forward to the group growing and having a regular meeting.
Pancake Day!
Pancake Day!
Last night, our residents and their families enjoyed our first pancake day here at Silverbirch House.
Everything was beautifully prepared by our Chef's, we had a wide choice of all the delicious pancake toppings and it was great to see everyone getting stuck in.
Duke of Edinburgh
We are very excited to welcome our new volunteers to Silverbirch House.
As part of their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, the friends will complete their volunteering experience with us at the home.
They came for their initial induction with Luba and Angela, the homes life enrichment team, and our residents are very much looking forward to seeing them on a regular occasion!
Inter-generational Fun!
We have been lucky enough to have a visit from the local Home Education Group.
Some children from the group came to meet our residents to help build on their inter-generational activity.
One of our residents Marion, loved meeting the children, she used to be a teacher so seeing them bought back lots of lovely memories for her.
We look forward to welcoming them to the home again soon!
