Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Joanne Thorp

Activities coordinator

My name is Joanne or Jo to all my friends and colleagues. I cannot put into words how excited I am to be working as a part of the Silverbirch House family. I have worked for the past 27 years in education and social care and loved every minute. (yes, I am 51 and looking so young). I have brought up two fantastic children, both autistic, who are now young adults.
My hobbies are yoga, knitting, board games, exploring outdoors and retaining my passion for learning something every day, As I promised my dad as he lived his life to the full -  I would never lose my sense of wonder. For your loved ones as one door closes, let them come and enjoy the wonders as another door opens. The residents are the reason I get up in the morning and cannot sleep at night – as I said “far too exciting for words”

Worplesdon Parish Council come to visit

Gaynor White and Victoria Fear, both members of the Worplesdon Parish Council, had the pleasure of going on a tour with our General Manager, Louise White, earlier this week. During the tour, they were able to get an in-depth look at our fantastic facilities and gain valuable insights into the day-to-day life in our home. The tour was a great success, and Gaynor and Victoria were impressed with the professionalism and expertise of Louise and her team. We are always delighted to share our knowledge and experience with members of the community, and we look forward to welcoming you for a visit.

Our team paid a visit to our local emergency services personnel this week. We brought along "Hero chocolates" and invited them for a "Cuppa and Cake". Their delightful smiles showed us how happy they were. We extend an open invitation for anyone to come visit us anytime for refreshments and a tour.

Harvest Celebrations

We were thrilled to receive an invitation to celebrate Harvest Festival at St. Mary's Church in Worplesdon, hosted by Reverend Alex Russell. During the event, Sally-Anne, the Home Services Advisor from Silverbirch House Care Home presented the church with an impressive Harvest Hamper filled with a variety of foods. Sally-Anne commented "It was a fantastic opportunity to meet the congregation and become more acquainted with the local community. We were all looking forward to the Harvest Festival, as it's such a lovely time of year to show our gratitude. It's great to know that everything is safely gathered in for another year. We enjoyed singing hymns together and spreading the word about our new luxury care home with Barchester."
