Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Silverbirch House Care Home
Paddy's 95th birthday!
Yesterday at Silverbirch House, we celebrated a very special milestone.
The Bistro was filled with smiles as everyone gathered to sing happy birthday and enjoy a lovely cup of tea together. Happy 95th, Paddy! You're a valued member of our Silverbirch community and today we salute you.
Our community is made up of an eclectic group!
Just the other day, we captured the various activities happening here:
Bob was busy rebuilding Stonehenge using bourbon biscuits
Mountaineer Robert reminisced about his journeys up and down Mount Kilimanjaro
Mrs. Coxhead popped in and demonstrated her amazing knitting skills
Marion was caught blowing bubbles in the summer sun.
Robert fancied popping out for some exercise and helped us with a door drop.
And even though it’s all part of the service, Peter fancied doing his own washing up.
We love our community – it’s what makes Silverbirch House a home!
It's Coming Home (Almost)!
Residents at Silverbirch House gathered in the Hillard Lounge for a Euro 2024 gathering! We enjoyed a delicious buffet tea whilst cheering on the England team in their match. While the final score may not have been what we hoped for (come on lads!), the atmosphere was buoyant – as we did not lose!
The evening was topped off with a cheese and wine spread after the game which certainly helped ease the frustration.
Silverbirch is gets moving
We are getting moving here at Silverbirch House to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation! The team and residents are doing their bit to clock up 'Move Minutes' to be trotted up at the end of the week. To help boost the Foundation’s coffers, we invite family, friends, and members of the community to join us.
Arts and Crafts ahead Ladies' Day at Ascot
Today at Silverbirch House Care Home! Our residents enjoyed an arts and crafts session ahead of the celebration of Ladies' Day at Ascot. Creativity was in full swing as everyone prepared for the big event!
Later we will gather in the Tovey Lounge to watch the celebrations, the high fashion, and cheer for the historic Gold Cup.
Announcing the Silverbirch Veg and Fruit Patch
Exciting news! Thanks to Robert's hard work, Silverbirch House has a newly created veggie and fruit patch. He transformed a piece of waste ground into a flourishing garden. We’re starting with tomatoes and strawberries, and can’t wait to see it grow!
