Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.

Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.

Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.

Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Raising money for Macmillan – world’s biggest coffee morning

In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own coffee morning for friends, families and community members to raise funds for the charity.

Our home was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games and activities.

We all had a wonderful morning raising funds for this lovely cause. We raised a grand total of £608.65 and would like to thank everyone who donated and came along to support us. We would like to thank everyone so much for their generous donations including: Doddington Hall and Gardens Pennells Lincoln Immie’s Beauty Bar Quayside Gifts Daisy Made Farm Scampton Chiropody services, our lovely hairdresser Rosie, our staff, residents, relatives, our chefs in our kitchen and the wonderful ladies from Sturton Knitting and natter group, you are all amazing.

World Animal Day

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Tennyson Wharf care home in Burton Waters were having a whale of a time when they celebrated World Animal Day on October 3rd.

Home raises funds for Macmillan

Staff and residents at Tennyson Wharf Care Home in Burton Waters held a charity coffee morning and bake sale today on Friday 29th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can.

Church services at our home

Sunday Mornings give our residents the opportunity to come together in song and prayer. The sound of beautiful voices can be heard filling our cafe and corridors while our residents are singing their favourite hymns. We also have a regular Church Service, the first Thursday of every month, where Nettleham All Saints visit and we have a wonderful afternoon of songs, prayers and communion.

Our very own Beauty Bar

We welcomed the lovely Imogen from Immie’s Beauty Bar who does various beauty treatments including; nails, facials and waxing. Imogen will be with us every Wednesday to improve the wellbeing of the residents.

Residents and staff thoroughly enjoyed being pampered and were very impressed with their new nails, everyone felt very relaxed and content after their treatments.
