Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Rebecca Harrowing

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.

Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.

Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.

Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Monday Funday

We welcomed back Caterpillar Music Newark for their weekly visit, and what a fantastic morning we had as always!

Children were dressed up as superheroes and residents had a great time interacting with them.

The photos and smiles say it all.

The Wallace Collection Virtual Talk

We had a lovely time joining Holly and Roxanne from the Wallace Collection for a virtual sensory talk in recognition of International Women’s Day.

The Wallace Collection a national museum in a historic London town house.

During the session, our residents had the opportunity to explore together two different, yet inspiring, women from the Collection, with music and discussion.

We all had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the immersive experience.

Intergenerational Visit

We had a wonderful time yesterday with our weekly visit from Caterpillar Music Newark.

Residents and children had great fun singing and playing with bubbles. The sessions always bring so much joy to the home and we always look forward to seeing them.

We look forward to welcoming the children back again next week!

Weekly visit from Caterpillar Music

We had wonderful morning at Tennyson Wharf welcoming back the children from Caterpillar Music for our weekly visit. Smiles all round and what wonderful way to spend a Monday Morning.

Fun Filled Mornings

A fun packed morning started off with a gentle warm up to Classical Music, closely followed by Seated Line dancing.

Everyone was having such fun and still had some energy left so we finished off with Movement and Singing with Alexa, YMCA, Hokey Cokey and other firm favourites.

Virtual Sensory Storytelling Session

Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.

Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets.

A lovely time was had by all.
