Activities at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Rebecca Harrowing
Hi my name is Rebecca, I started working at Tennyson Wharf in July 2024.
Previous to starting at Tennyson Wharf I have lived in many countries and worked as a supply teacher and administrator in Bahrain in the Middle East - I have also worked in scouting programme groups in both the USA and UK.
Whilst I have worked with children for a lot of my life, working with the elderly is always been something I have been passionate about. I believe that everybody has a story to tell and our residents life stories all add value to Tennyson Wharf.
Outside of work I enjoy walking, gardening and going to the cinema.

Life at Tennyson Wharf Care Home
My Back Garden
We entered our resident Peter on behalf of Tennyson Wharf for BBC's One show's Chelsea garden competition called “my back garden”. Pictures speak a thousand words and shows how the simple things in life are most poignant, beautiful and rewarding.
VE Day Celebrations
Residents enjoyed VE celebrations at Tennyson Wharf. The staff also went the extra mile by dressing up in 1940s attire to add to the day. The flags were flying high.
Josie's Birthday
Our residents sang happy birthday outside to our ever popular Josie, respecting the 2 meter rule. She was very pleased and surprised to her friends from the home making such an effort.
VE Day Poster
Local children from the Manor Leas Academy produced a nice VE Day Poster for our residents. It brought a big smile to many faces during these difficult times as they honorably celebrate VE Day on Friday. The children really enjoyed creating these & have much admiration for the older generation.
Green Fingers
Peter, our 95 year old and one of our most active residents is out bright and early, helping our garden maintenance team.
Football Magic
Residents enjoy playing a game of football on our interactive 'Magic Table' technology. Great fun for all to participate in, without having to breaking a swett.
