Activities at The Warren Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Bush

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Getting Giddy at the Goat Shed

We had a wonderful trip out to The Goat Shed where one of our residents had always wanted to go.  She has a love for farming as it was in the family and her Uncle had a milking farm.

Mary loved seeing the goats and got very excited when she saw the new addition of the cows too.  She then began to tell us some funny stories of the past about milking cows.

After a cup of tea and a slice of cake, we ventured onto a cosy village pub for some lunch and home by tea time for a well-deserved rest from a fantastic day out.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

We started our night with a welcome Mulled Cider and some toasted Marshmallows and a warm welcome.  After all our guests were seated either outside by the firepit under the Gazebo or in the warmth of our conservatory, the fireworks were ready to fly.

The residents had sparklers and our main display went off with a bang.

After the display was over, everybody was treated to hot Chocolate, Spiced Pumpkin Soup, Hot Sausage Rolls, Cheese Straws and Parkin Cake.  It was all delicious and warmed us all up a treat.

Cockney Knees up with Tom Carradine

We celebrated World Pianist Day in true style and had a right old fashioned Cockney Knees up and afternoon tea and cake.

Tom played the old Joanna well and had us all laughing with his jokes and hilarious quips and funny songs.

Roll our the barrel, the Lambeth Walk and more of the old favourites, we sung our little hearts out.  Finishing off with the old classic, "we'll meet again" and we called out for more as it was such an amazing afternoon...and he will meet us again for sure.

A trip to Historic Market Town.

At The Warren we support and encourage our residents to continue doing the things they love whilst also making new friends and exploring new adventures.

A wonderful day was had by all with a visit to the historic Wymondham Abbey dating back to the 1400s. We enjoyed a tour of the Abbey before moving on for a sumptuous pub lunch in Little Melton.

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program and all the trips we take are at the request of the residents. Our monthly activities calendar boasts a range of outings and entertainment.

Getting in the Christmas spirit.

Supporting residents to enjoy outings, shopping, meals out and other trips is a key aspect of the weekly activities calendar.

A number of our residents requested a shopping trip to start getting ready for Christmas. We took a trip to Sprowston garden centre to meet Rudolph and our residents after some retail therapy tucked into a sumptuous lunch before singing so Christmas tunes on the way home.

Regular outings are just one aspect of our life enrichment program.

Now That's Country Music

Our residents had requested a Country and Western Artist as part of our lifestyle enrichment program.

It was the first time Bob Oakley had performed at The Warren Care Home and played some country classics to get our residents to their feet and dancing. Everyone enjoyed belting out their favourite tunes.

One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live musical entertainment. Resident involvement in choosing genres, along with feedback after each performance means that we are able to constantly improve our activities calendar.
