Activities at Fountains Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

A Fruity day for residents

Residents and staff marked National Apple Day by venturing out into their gardens to pick the apples from their very own tree and enjoy the last of the summer sun.

Supported by the activity team, staff and maintenance manager, residents spent the afternoon choosing and picking the apples off the tree before using them to prepare a delicious apple and cinnamon crumble.

Residents enjoyed peeling and preparing the fruit before turning them into a scrumptious crumble which filled the home with the smell of Christmas.

It was a lovely sunny day and one that will be part of our autumn calendar each year. Our residents enjoyed spotted the biggest apple too.

Birthday celebrations with a scottish theme

Fountains much loved resident celebrated her 86th birthday and being from Scottish descent a Scottish theme seemed fitting.

The kitchen team made a delicious Victoria sponge iced with the Scottish flag and donned with sparklers.

There was also a lovely spread of sandwiches, homemade quiches, sausage rolls and pastries with a selection of cheese and wine.

Along with music and dancing and opening of gifts and cards, it was a lovely celebration of 86 years young.

Age UK On-line Speed Quiz

Fountains joined the on-line speed quiz for the second time and were thrilled to finish in 2nd place.

Team Fountains had a medley of knowledge between them from music knowledge to Disney experts – it was a real team effort.

The kitchen provided homemade pepperoni pizza which was delicious washed down with a nice glass of wine.

Doreen” Fountains Captain” said she was on cloud 9 to finish in 2nd place.

Thank you Age Uk for another fun evening of entertainment.

Our residents enjoyed a tasting session of vegetarian offerings to celebrate World Vegetarian Day.

Our talented kitchen team made a variety of tartlets with vegetarian toppings such as butter bean hummus, roasted butternut and caramelised onion and homemade guacamole.

There were also Stilton and mushroom galletes and tomato and garlic crostini.

There was a mixture of reactions with the crostini coming out as a firm favourite.
