Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Christmas Big Lights Switch on!

Lighting up time got a whole new meaning at Hampton Grove as the community came together to see the home’s Christmas lights switched on for the very first time this Christmas. Staff, residents, family and friends got in the Christmas spirit, gathering in the home’s ground floor restaurant for the occasion.

There was mulled wine, freshly baked cream cakes and scones along with lots of other Christmas treats all prepared by head chef, Cassie Mills and the hospitality team to keep everyone happy and in the festive mood.

The Christmas trees and all the lights around the home looked amazing when our special guests; The Right Worshipful the Mayor of the City of Peterborough, Councillor Stephen Lane, accompanied by his wife Margaret plunged the switch for the big reveal.

General Manager, Krzysztof Krzysztofiak said: “We absolutely love Christmas here at Hampton Grove care home, it is such a special time and we all love decorating the home and having beautiful trees and displays on each community. It is Christmas so you have to go over the top, especially this year!”

Our visitors were entertained throughout the event by the beautiful vocals of Thea Watson, the sensational young singing star currently studying at BIMM Birmingham. Thea bought everyone together in song, starting with a rendition of Shakin’ Stevens ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’!

Resident; Pearl Wardrop said: “It feels properly Christmassy now all the lights are up, the home looks so beautiful – I can’t wait for my family to see the lights next time they visit!”

Countdown to Christmas

We are looking forward to officially welcoming Christmas in tomorrow with our 'big lights switch on' with the Mayor of Peterborough; Stephen Lane.

The celebrations will be accompanied vocally by the young singer; Thea Watson with a repertoire of festive songs.

Book Club

As the UK is hit by high winds and snow flurries, our residents gathered for book club, sitting back in the warmth of our lounges, there's nothing better than escaping through the pages of a good novel whatever the genre.

Courtesy of our talented receptionist, this weekend staff and visitors have the opportunity to buy an array of handcrafted scented candles and melts, with fragrances such as rhubarb, cinnamon & apple, coffee, chocolate and even bubble gum!

Pop in quick before they're all gone.

Employee of the Month - October 2021

Hampton Grove care home residents and colleagues wish to congratulate Activities Coordinator; Deborah Andrew ‘Debs’ on receiving Employee of the Month for October 2021.

We have all been so impressed by Deb’s over the past month, she has gone above and beyond for the home. During her annual leave Debs collected pumpkins from a local farmer and created the most wonderful carved jack-o-lantern display for our reception area for all to enjoy.

She is full of great ideas on how the team can ensure our residents lives are fulfilled through person centric activities. She does so much for us and the local community. Earlier this year Debs made the whole home so proud being nominated for and winning the Longhurst Group ‘Community Hero’ award for her dedication to her neighbours throughout the pandemic.

She really is a team player, committed to bringing joy to others. We all hope she enjoys her voucher and Barchester accolade, well done Debs you’re a star.

You have the opportunity to join the fantastic team here at Hampton Grove in Peterborough. We’re currently recruiting for a number of roles. Please follow the link to find out more and apply today.

Christmas Tree Selection

Over the past few days the team from Hampton Grove and our residents have been preparing for Dr Nik Johnson, Mayor of Cambridge & Peterborough's visit to turn on all of our Christmas lights next Thursday 2nd December, 2021.

Today we took a trip out to B&Q to select the perfect tree for display at the front of out home. We thank B&Q greatly for this wonderful donation.

As soon as it was put in place our residents got busy decorating it with lights ready for the main event. Our crafts lady Jane has also been very creative, making MDF Christmas trees and an igloo all of which have been painted by the residents during out arts & craft sessions along with a waddle of recycled bottle penguins and snowflake pompoms!

Getting Christmas Ready

'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas'

We're all getting very excited at Hampton Grove in preparation for the current elected Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough; Dr Nik Johnson's visit on 2nd December, 2021. (See our attached Event Poster).

Mayor Johnson will be switching on our homes Christmas lights to welcome in the festive period for our residents and staff. The celebrations will be accompanied vocally by the young singer; Thea Watson currently studying at BIMM Birmingham.

Our Resident Ambassador; Olive spent Friday morning decorating the reception area tree, ready for all visitors and the Hampton Grove community to see, and enjoy. Well done Olive, the tree looks amazing.
