Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Relaunch of Knit & Natter

Over the weekend we re-started our 'Knit and Natter' club.

Many of our lady residents from across the home gathered together to start making blankets and bonnets for the local mother and baby unit. They even started teaching some of the Activities team how to knit!

Well done ladies. We're hoping more ladies... and some gentlemen join in next time. It looks likely to be a regular, fun and sociable fortnightly event for such a great cause

Fitness Fun

Keeping fit and active is so important for our residents’ wellbeing. Particularly as the days become shorter, and we have little opportunity to venture outside with the unpredictable British weather!

Our activities team have had our residents up and having fun with the parachute and indoor basketball. Both ideal for upper body movement, hand-eye coordination and team play.

Hampton Grove Dog Show

It was lovely to see so many two and four-legged friends at our Dog Show on Saturday 25th September, 2021. We had eleven well behaved dogs come to the show. Many of our residents took turn being the judges for each of the 6 categories. And the winners were…

‘Dillon’ the Shih Tzu (ginger and white) was extremely popular with the residents, he went home with two 1st place rosettes, two 2nd place and a 3rd place!

‘Toby’ the 5 month old American Bully XL (grey dog) was also much loved, he won 1st place for both most Handsome Dog and the Happiest Dog.

Every dog that came 1st place got a rosette and a £5 voucher that were kindly donated to us by the brands Purina and Butcher's Dog Food.

2nd and 3rd place dogs received a rosette and a bag of dog treats made by the residents.

Our raffle proved very popular, the prizes were full of dog related prizes many of which had been donated to us by Tesco Extra All monies raised go towards our residents’ fund.

We want to send a big THANK YOU everyone that came to this ‘pouch-tastic’ event, you really made our residents day!

Getting creative with Card Making

In preparation for World Card Making Day on Sunday 3rd October, 2021. The activities team at Hampton Grove hosted a card making afternoon whereby our residents had the opportunity to make handmade cards to send to their loved ones. With a choice of materials to decorate their cards our residents explored their creative side and finished off each with a personal message of love.

We’re really looking forward to making more cards, with residents across the home to send to their loved ones and friends. We will also be hand crafting and sending thank you cards to our friends in the local community in gratitude for their continued support.

Our residents also love to receive cards...

If you, or your group, school or organisation would like to send a card to the residents of Hampton Grove to make them smile on this special day, please post to;

World Card Making Day, Hampton Grove care home, 2 Chaffinch Ln, Hampton Vale, Peterborough PE7 8NF. We’ll ensure we send them around the home and place on display for all to see.
