Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Tannie the PAT Dog

Many of our residents used to own dogs and seeing little ‘Tannie’ pootleing through the home, lead by her owner Nicky made us all smile.

The joy of stroking and interacting with a PAT Dog can bring great comfort, we all had a super time patting Tannie, she's such an obedient pooch seeing her scampering around was a real tonic for our dog loving community.

Bingo!

Our residents love a good game of bingo. The upstairs bar is a great place to play and the residents have great fun playing for prizes. Bingo is a fun way to help stimulate memory and dexterity, its a home favorite!

Gambian Kora Player Entertains

On Wednesday we were delighted to have a performance from Jali Bakary Konteh. He performed some traditional Gambian folk songs using the Kora. He also spent time with the residents, teaching them about how the instrument is made and demonstrating how to play it. The residents loved learning about the Gambian culture and their traditional music, we sang and clapped along!

This wonderful entertainment was provided to us by https://www.livemusicnow.org.uk/ which connects classical music with children and older people around the country.

Getting Halloween Ready

Today we have started to get into the spirit of Halloween and the residents have begun making Halloween decorations. Today we started off by making Halloween themed wreaths. The residents drew around their hands, and decorated them to make our spooky themed wreaths. Over the next couple of weeks we are going to be doing lots of Halloween related crafts and activities, so keep and eye out.

Aqua Painting - Active Minds

Is there anything more relaxing than time admiring some of nature’s most beautiful creatures? Whether you are glaring into a goldfish bowl or watching a rose bush grow, we all have our favorites. Aqua painting is a great way of getting creative, simply paint water onto the drawing and the coloured image will appear, as the water dries the image will fade, allowing the aqua paint to be used again. This activity is great for everyone but is especially brilliant for our residents with dementia.
