Activities at Hampton Grove Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

I started working for Barchester in October 2020. The team here at Hampton Grove have made me feel welcome. No day is ever the same here.

Afternoon Tea at Dobbies

There's nothing better than a visit to your local garden centre for a spot of afternoon tea. On Saturday we took a small group over to Dobbies in Peterborough to view their Christmas displays and select a few decorations for the home.

It was such a beautiful day out, full of Christmas cheer, we'd definitely recommend a visit.

Christmas-themed Floristry Masterclass

Our staff and residents were treated to an interactive virtual Christmas-themed floristry masterclass courtesy of Master Florist, Michal Kowalski, from Blooming Haus - Floral Engineers.

Blooming Haus, is one of the UK’s most innovative floral design and artisan studios. With sustainability and seasonality at the core of their designs, the duo behind Blooming Haus - Michal Kowalski and his business partner, Michael Dariane, bring a completely fresh approach to floristry and their ambition to push the boundaries of traditional floristry has laid the foundations of Blooming Haus’ success to date.

We we're invited to gather together flowers and foliage and follow Michal’s demonstration to create our own Christmas wreaths. It was such an enjoyable session, our residents used various material to complete their arrangements which will be entered into a Facebook competition judged by Michal and Michael to win Love2Shop vouchers.

Our General Manager, Krzysztof Krzysztofiak, said: “It was wonderful that our residents were able to follow along and create their own Christmas wreaths using all sorts of dried flowers and materials. Resident; Pearl couldn’t wait to showcase her wreath to the room and the Blooming Haus team.”

Time to give Thanks

With Barchester goody bags in hand, our General Manager Krzysztof has been out and about in the local area. His first visit was to Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough to meet ward manager; Rebecca.

It's been some time since these professional face to face catch ups have been possible, and Krzysztof wanted to show our support and give thanks to Rebecca and her colleagues for all they have done over the past year.

Like Hampton Grove, Fitzwilliam Hospital has remained open for those in need throughout the pandemic. We applaud them for all they continue to do and hope they enjoy the small gifts of thanks from the residents and staff within our home.

We're getting ready for Christmas

This week our crafting activities have started to have distinctly Christmas feeling to them. The residents love getting their paintbrushes out with our residents’ artist to create all kinds of incredible crafts. This week we went for Christmas tree displays that over the next couple of week’s residents from all the floor will be adding their own creative touches to.

Remembrance Day

Today at Hampton Grove we had our 2 minutes silence and remembered those fallen who lost their lives fighting for our country.

We had a lady bring in some of her husband’s father and uncles pins to be shown around to our residents, which some residents shared their stories about the war. #remembranceday

Flower Arrangements

The ladies love to have flower arranging sessions, they are a great chance to get their creative juices flowing with such a beautiful outcome. The arrangement's they make are proudly displayed in the dining room and reception. This activity is brilliant for creative stimulation, dexterity, relaxation and the senses.
